When we first started to plan the design of the Sleigh, there were certain criteria. The main criterion was Safety, Function, Comfort and Ease of use.
Hi Everyone
Building Santa’s Sleigh
Tuesday the 2 July, the Market Rasen Lions Club started stage 3 of Making Sleigh.
Lions Gary and Mike started to cut out the sides of the Sleigh to give it the look of proper sleigh. We were held up slightly with a few showers but still managed to achieve progress.
We still have quite a lot of work to do to get it ready for Santa, and I’m sure the children and Santa will be pleased with what we have planned.

Hi Everyone, We’ve been busy over the past few week’s making all the pieces in preparation to assembling all the parts together. The two photos opposite shows one of the Steel Steps which were cut by us the given to Adrian (friend of the Lions) who made a terrific job of welding and painting. Thanks Adrian.
The second shows part of the sleigh assembled and fixed into place on the trailer. We have also made progress with the seating for Santa. We’ve gone all out to provide him with a red leather upholstered seat for him and a matching seat for the children. Both should be very comfortable. We’ve stepped up our working days to two days a week to ensure it will be finished on time

The Children’s Seat
Stage three is finally finished. Time was running out so quickly that we had to increase our schedule to a 4 day working week. There were a few problems with sizing, making sure everyone had room to move on the sleigh. At the same time I was busy at home, making the seating for Santa and the Children. We were very lucky someone on Facebook had donated a red leather chesterfield chair and settee and it was from these I made the Santa and children’s seating repairing or replacing worn parts of leather with good sections, cleaning and colouring the chairs in a fresh RED dye then coated with a sealant to protect it from the weather. The next stage is painting the sleigh which will transform it to resemble a proper sleigh fit for Santa.
